We are now exhibiting in the Gallery at the Village Bakery, Melmerby. This will be a constantly changing showcase representing the artists below. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays you can usually meet some of the makers, and every day you can enjoy the delicious food on offer at the Village Bakery Restaurant. The Village Bakery is 9 miles north-east of Penrith (M6 J40) on the A686.

silver chased bowl LIZ CLAY MA (RCA)
SILVER

Liz challenges the intrinsic value of silver as it imitates transient substances like paper, resulting in small tactile objects and larger sculptures. She endeavours to augment the aesthetic value with minimum apparent intervention. Materials are used in combinations which contradict traditional perceptions, metal replaces mass-produced disposable ephemera, questioning the value we place on the stuff we discard.

JONATHAN LEECH
WOOD TURNING

I have lived in Cumbria all of my life, and the area is a continual source of inspiration. I prefer a minimalist style, allowing the wood to express itself within a simple design. I can also produce items from customers' own timber.
